Crazy Itchy Throat!

Post by cpapmama3 » Fri Oct 05, 2012 6:46 pm

The back of my throat has been so itchy and scratchy. I dont usually have allergies, so I am wonderind if it is from my cpap blowing air down my throat all night. It feels kind of raw and very itchy. Does anyone else have this issue? The only other thing it might be is from GERD or acid reflux, but I am not sure? Does anyone else experience this, and if so - what do you do to treat it?

Any chance you are taking Lisinopril? It can cause a tickle in the throat and cough in some people.

About two years back I finally noticed (I have been doing CPAP for 9y) that every fall my AHI went up and I did not feel so good. It was fall, I was monitoring and had called the doctor to see what he could do (6 weeks to appointment - of course). I did happen upon GERD as a possible cause so I got out my little camera - nice macro auto focus mode with flash - and after several tries was able to document a great ugly change from bed time to morning time as far as my poor throat was concerned.

For me, raising the head of my bed a few inches (couple of concrete bricks from a building supply store < $5) does the trick nicely. I think that eating a few less carbs in the evening and maybe a bit of raw veggies may help also.

Have a great week!
