Things are looking up, no meningitis, just a bad case of whatever seasonal bug has been going around. Another day or two and we should be home. The only issue we had was last night with the respiratory care department, they wanted her on their bipap, but they never could get an order to get it hooked up. I finally got things worked out this morning with the patient care liaison.

Why is it that very damn hospitalist or resident wants to reinvent the wheel each time?

Well we finally got the cpap issue resolved. The doctor ordered a hospital CPAP, said the one that she has at home is "not good enough" for use at the hospital.

the put her on this: http://www.healthcare.philips.com/main/ ... ilator.wpd

The respiratory tech, and a fellow hosehead, told us due to the way this one works that she had to use a hospital type mask. She was not happy with that as she only uses nasal pillows and had to use a nasal mask, but found one that would work.

I bet they are going to look at the data and she might be moving to a BiPAP or an ASV as with her CHF they looked at the card data and saw some periodic breathing issues.

Unfortunately I have been so busy with everything I had not looked at her data in a while. next time I will keep a closer look at this.

If everything keeps improving I may get to bring her home tomorrow!!!

We have had a tough year between me breaking my ankle, then she ruptured a disc helping me out of bed while i was recovering, now this hit us without warning. At least it was not bacterial meningitis, but still with her CHF and Pulmonary Hypertension, any stress to her system is not good.

I just need my luck to change for the better!
retrodave15,

Dave,

Lifting you and your lovely wife up in prayers. The struggles we go through can be hard to deal with, but here is a prayer that the days are easier ahead and she is home and well soon.

Take care of yourself as well,

Karen

Thanks for all the support and prayers -

I got her home today, not much was figured out, as usual. But she will sleep in her own bed and with her own cpap tonight! They adjusted a few meds and that was about it.

We have a plan for her - but now I have to plan for me - durring all of this, I got the call from my doc. I had an MRI last week on my neck, it was not a good call, but it can be fixed.

I know what I have to do now. I gotta keep breathing. Because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the tide could bring? (Castaway 1998)

P.S. Karen the padacheek neck pad has been a lifesaver!
