Remstar Auto error code 83

Post by mother trucker » Thu Sep 13, 2012 7:05 pm

My husbands machine just gave him this error code and now won't work. We are over the road truck drivers and can't just take it in for repairs. Any ideas?. The machine is about 4 years old so no warranty.

If you have not yet unplugged it for a minute or so to force a cold restart, please try that.
Can you let us know anything about the machine?
Copy the numbers off the ID plates on the back or bottom.
Somebody may have experience to help you.
Welcome, mom.

Above link repairs machines. I would suggest calling them and giving them exact model name as well as the error code.
For the Legacy series machines that error code points to either motor or PCA board failure and repair suggestion is replacement of such. Probably similar with the M series machine.

Likely will cost more to fix it then it is worth.

If it's the Legacy Auto with C-Flex, it could be this one:

E-83 ERR_MOTOR_OVERSPEED •Defective Motor •Defective PCA •Replace Motor •Replace PCA

Got a spare/backup?

I see Pugsy gave you the link. Get in touch with them and they'll be able to give you some ideas of what it will cost. Those are great machines and the parts aren't all that expensive, but I can't say what the labor might be.

If he has no back-up machine, it might be time to invest in one, even if insurance will pay for repair or
a replacement. Secondwindcpap.com has gently used, reconditioned machines.
Open box unused are also available. Our hosts, cpap.com has a great selection of new machines.
I might suggest this model, for the inexpensive DC power option and the 5 year warranty.

I really like my S9 Autoset, but I never get away from 110 volt AC.

That is what I found also. Couldn't find a service manual for the M series machines though.
Do you know if "you know who" has one in all those files you sent me a while back? My links got squirrely and I think I got them all back but no old ResMed machine stuff anymore at all and no M series service manual...got all the older ones but not the M series.

Good to see you again even if you are incognito.
Take care of yourself.

Hi Pugsy.

I've got the Service/Technical manual for the M Series machines, but it's over 36 MB in size. However, I'm on a dial-up modem connection and many Internet Service Providers kind of frown on sending files of that size as e-mail attachments. Let's just say I downloaded it from "the source". The lists of error codes for the M Series is kind of convoluted and very extensive. I've never tried to compile them into a text list for that reason.

I don't know what happened to the ResMed files you're referring to. I recently noticed they had disappeared and have my suspicions as to why. However, I think I have almost all of them in my "archives"
(I REALLY dislike ResMad!!!)

Let me know if I can help you out in some way.

Den

I kind of thought maybe some of the cpap police may have had something to do with the disappearance of the ResMed stuff. So you sort of confirm it. I wasn't smart enough to download them while they were available. I thought they were hid well enough.
No worry about the M series service manuals. Not that big of a deal anyway. Should someone need those codes I will just let you handle it.

I have thought about downloading all the others to disc and keeping them safe but the need for those manuals is becoming more rare all the time. I just haven't mustered up the energy to download all those files. My internet connection out here in the boonies sucks most of the time. PITA and more work than I want to do.
