Apnea can cause night sweats, so it may not be traditional hot flashes. It could be a side effect of apnea.
This is true! I was amazed that 10 years worth of "menopausal night sweats" disappeared my first month on CPAP. And then they returned. So I went to see the sleep lab RTwho said "it must be menopause" because my AHI was low. But when we looked at my charts, my variable pressure was topping out. Surprise, when we raised my upper pressure limit, my "menopause" went away!
So don't assume it's menopausal, it may very well be apnea. It bugs me that a doctor would look further to see what's going on with a man, but when a woman complains of night sweats, it's always menopause. Even when it's not.

My hose is tucked in my arm pit - well away from the H's
But the DDD's ARE in my arm pits!!!

After reading on this forum that the "night sweats" might be due to the apnea rather than perimenopause I was rather excited, and I had a week go past without a "night sweat" and I was thinking that I was "cured". Too much way too soon, I have spent the last few days having back to back hot flashes (2 or 3 an hour) and multiple nights of "night sweats". At this point I don't really care what is causing them I just want them to stop! My AHI has been fluctuating between 4.5 and 9.5 for the last few nights so when I see my GP Wed I am going to ask him to take advantage of the fact I have an APAP and change my prescription from 14cmh20(CPAP) to 10cmh20-18cmh20(APAP) and see if that will resolve some of my issues. I am also going to try to push for the Smart link system for my system but I doubt my insurance will cover it.
