I"ve been on cpap for about a year and half and desperately need a new mask. My dme is no help what so ever. My first mask was a profile lite yuck, then I got an activia which I loved but can no longer use. I do seem to have luck getting the mask I ask for so am looking for some help or suggestions. My problem is that I have had 2 brain surgeries in the last year where I have had a vp shunt put in my brain. Since the last one in the end of November, I keep taking off the activia in my sleep. The shunt is located on the right front side of my head near my forehead right about where the hair line is and doesn't like a strap over it or the top part of the activia which tends to move over towards it sometimes. Any mask that would be too bulky in that area of the head wouldn't work. I also have severe headaches at night so can't wear a mask that must be very tight on my head. Medicaid is my insurance and I can get a new mask every 6 months, but I don't have the resources to buy any others. I also have restless leg syndrome and plmd and move alot in my sleep. Am facing another brain surgery within the next month or two so need to find a new mask that I can wear and get adjusted hopefully before then. I also have vision problems so can't research too much on the net. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Angie

i think you should call cpap.com and discuss your needs with a knowledgable rep because i think your needs are so particular that i for one don't have a clue what to advise you. in a phone call, you can get into the nitty-gritty of your situation in a way that's difficult in a forum like this one. you've got serious medical issues that are beyond the realm, i think, of most people. i hope you don't think i'm blowing you off; i just think you need expert advice, and that's the best i can think of.
