Are there any new auto units out there ?

Post by chrisp » Tue Jan 11, 2005 7:55 pm

Hello,

I'm ready to buy another auto unit. Is there anything new out there besides those we hear about daily ? Some secret cutting edge technology that will revoloutionize treatment. I dont want to buy a 420E and have them introduce the latest marvel before my check clears.

Cheers,

Chris

Chris,

Check this link out:

http://www.aeiomed.com/

AEIOMed and aura™ FAQs

How is the aura™ system unique?

The aura™ CPAP has all the features patients want in a CPAP, with the smallest of footprints found in the industry. Also available as an option is a compact, integrated rechargeable battery, capable of operating the system for an entire night. A humidifier will be available in early 2005.

The nasal interface offers real comfort and convenience to patients. The interface touches only the nostrils – nothing else touches the face. The seal comes in a variety of sizes and is easily adjustable for a wide range of patient sizes. The result is increased comfort, which can increase patient compliance.

aura™’s unique Headrest™ provides a stable platform for the interface. The system has no facial straps – nothing touches the skin of the face. The headrest is easy to adjust as well. Its unique design improves the field of vision and makes wearing glasses possible.

The aura is a fixed pressure cpap. It does have an onboard battery option though. The company tells me the unit will begin distribution the end of this month.

Chris,

How did you feel with that 420e? It sure sounded like it was a superb match for your breathing pattern.

Good luck!

You'd use them to power your pancake compressor...oops!

Wading,

I'm sure the AutoPAP version will be a follow on product. Do you have any idea when that will be?

Paul,

Don't know, or even if. Their website still says the machine is pending FDA approval. I wish Resmed would be as upfront with their pending S8 as this company is with the aura.

I'll send them an e-mail on the AutoPAP version and post the reply here if I hear back from them. For me, the most intriguing part is the integrated battery system.

420E

Hi Chrisp:
Sorry I was off for a few days. I still have sinus swelling/bloody nose from just the titration study. Do NOT think humidity was included. Anyhow, do you think that the 420E would be the ''best'' way to go. I see the pulmonary doc tomorrow, and am anxious to go over my results, get my copies f my 2 studies, etc. Then start the insurance/RT/DME dance. But I'm going to buy it eve if my ins. won't cover it.

What do you think?
Does the dr. just write out a scrip usually for the CPAP/pressure setting and leave one to their own opinions (or more likely the DME op. ) on which/what/how machine is best.........Learning a lot fast on this board, and thxs for your advice. You and rested gal deserve medals and kudo's for your insight...

I received a response from my e-mail this morning from aeiomed and they didn't answer my question when an AutoPAP version would be available, but they did say they expect to start shipping their CPAP unit around the end of the 1st quarter 2005 or early second quarter 2005.

We'll see...we should probably add 60 days to anything they say.
