420E and acessories pricing question

Post by snamvar » Tue Jan 11, 2005 6:52 pm

I am curious as the bundled pricing of PB420E on cpap.com:

1) cpap+bag+hose+manuals = $545
2) (1) + software = $599

So the software in this bundle is priced at $54 in 1 and 2.

3) (1)+heated humidifier = $750
4) (3)+software=$849

In this package, the software is priced at $99.

The software sold seperately is $99. So, in the 3 and 4 bundle, it's priced in full. I hope someone prom cpap.com an aswer this.

I noticed that also. Usually when you buy a bundled system from them, there is a price break in the overall cost.

This is great. We talk and they (cpap.com) listens. This is what a real business should be like.

Thanks to Johnny for responding to this. I would go ahead and pull the trigger on this offer, but I'm waiting to see what the S8 looks like. I must say it appears Resmed's ability to respond to market opportunities is deficient, and the competition is passing them by.

[Question: I went along with the ride on my DME's coat-tails after being honest and upfront on pricing. Low and behold they can ''now get the 420E" how lucky for me! Other DME walked. They have old stuff and found out the one they were pushing doesn't even address a few other problems I have. But my big question is does the software come with the 420E, or is it something they have to re-configure? If that is the case, I will just get software myself....?? any thoughts?---remember, I am a non techno geek. ha!
Happy sleep!

Uknow what, got to agree with you there. Resmed masks are the best by far. They need to move the product manager from masks over to the flow generators.

I absolutely agree that ResMed masks are the cat's pajamas - way ahead of any competitor's masks - with the possible exception of Puritan Bennett's Breeze.

ResMed's Activa nasal mask and their Ultra Mirage masks, including the full face, certainly leave the others in the dust, imho. The Swift was a good entry into the nasal pillows market, too.

Hmmm... I think I'd leave the flow generator manager in place. While their new S8 Pioneer autopap hit a humidifier bump, delaying its release, have we forgotten about the ahead-of-the-curve ResLink (optional pricey add-on for the Spirit) that includes recording oxygen levels in the overnight data? That's been available for quite some time now, yet other cpap manufacturers haven't come up with anything that can do that, that I know of.

And then there's the ResMed CS 2 (a combo autopap/bipap!) designed with heart failure patients in mind - to handle Cheyne-Stokes breathing patterns - currently being trialed for FDA approval in the U.S. Sounds to me like the flow generator teams at ResMed have been doing some amazing things lately.

Unless ResMed's due-to-come-out-in-the-?quarter (spring, perhaps?) S8 Pioneer autopap has pressure relief on exhalation while in autopap mode (and it doesn't sound like it does, unfortunately) I'm not really champing at the bit for that one.

I'm getting great results from the newest "combo" machine from Respironics - the Remstar Auto with C-Flex, which does give pressure relief on every exhalation even while operating as an autopap. Very cool. I love the new Respironics machine, even though I've never met a Respironics mask that I liked at all! ResMed masks rock! C'mon, mask manager....where's a full face Activa?!!!

RG, are you still using your PB 420? What's the noise level of your new Respironics Auto with c-flex like compared to your older Respironics machine and your PB 420? Longer term, I'm not sure I would use the c-flex feature, especially if it's noisier as I have heard. I'm titrated at 12 and that pressure is not a problem for me on exhale.

I'm really interested, too. I'm thinking of talking my sleep doc into an auto prescription and would like the 420e for travel.... But will it be too noisy for my sensitive little ears and sensitive little wifey??

And also my sensitive little 90 lb. German Shepherd's ears, who sleeps inches away and last night pulled the cord connection from my heated Aussie hose out, unbeknownst to me, and in the middle of the night I was wondering why my nose began sucking water. He's too cute though when he lays his wet nose on me at 6:30 in the morning...

UKnowWhat, where are you in Seattle? I'm up in Mill Creek.

I really don't find the 420E that noisy at all. Very quiet. Just a different "hum" than the Resmed Spirit. I'm using a Swift mask and since I put some filter material over the vent holes and taped all around it is absolutely quiet. Although I didn't think it was all that noisy before. Now it is even silent when I inhale.
