Has anyone made there own Manometer or just purchased one ?
And if you made one how do you know the pressure ratings ?
Are there different brands or pretty much the same ?
Is there a good accurate cheap one out there ?

The topic that TerryB links to is great but to directly answer part of the original question...
The units for our pressure settings are centimeters and that's just what it sounds like, a number you read off a (metric) ruler. A pressure of 10cm H20 means it's the amount of pressure that causes a column of water (H20) exactly 10cm to be raised in the manometer tube. It's that simple.
Would that all things in life were as obvious as they seem...

I took the plunge & bought 2
1 was the plus and minus 30cms guage sold by cpap.com for about $79.
2 was a cheap pocket cms meter
#1 was absolutely worth it for me. Very helpful in working with some of the experiments I try with different types of machines. Very easy to tap in while still wearing the mask - essential for my needs.
#2 was from cpapplus & is ok but not ass reliable as #1 due to the way it works. It is not a guage as in #1 bit a steel ball in a column of air & it bounces up & down just a bit. It has thus far been within 1 cms of the guage which reads very 'cleanly' (no needle jitter). This pocket guage replaces the mask so is not as useful as #1.
Cheers
