I was going to mention this in my first post but was more concerned about you giving up so soon.
You might put your location in your profile. Not having it there sticks out like "1" post does.

We do tend to be skeptical, it's the internet.

I'm a little leary of protection with paypal. Couldn't they claim it violates their acceptable use policy?
e.g: You may not use the PayPal service for activities that:
#5. violate applicable laws or industry regulations regarding the sale of (a) tobacco products, or (b) prescription drugs and devices.

I don't have much faith in paypal, they've done evil things to me in the past.

I'd like to buy this machine, but only by using some trusted member on here as an intermediary. No offense, but I wouldn't expect anyone to trust me if I were to put up a $400 machine for sale.

Regarding PayPal...they do stand behind what they say.
I bought a machine from a dude in Texas...Paid through PayPal using my bank card.
The dude flaked on me...didn't ship the machine...wouldn't return my phone calls or texts despite my talking to him initially.
I got my money back...every bit of it from PayPal. I had to jump through their hoops but they did exactly what they said they would do and in the time frame they told me to expect.
PayPal knew exactly what I purchased and didn't receive...I guess they don't care if cpap machines are sold privately.
They would put a stop to it if there was a problem. Rest assured that they are well aware that those items are sold.
Drugs requiring a RX and a cpap machine aren't the same thing.

Similar to Pugsy, I have also had good experience with Paypal. Once someone tried to stiff me, and Paypal reimbursed my money. It took about a month, but I did get my money back. On a second occasion, a vendor sent me merchandise that was in unacceptable condition. The vendor did not want to refund my money, but Paypal leaned on them, and they did issue a refund. I was out return shipping, but that was a small loss, so it wasn't a big deal to me. The bottom line is that you can trust Paypal as long as you follow their guidelines.

As for the seller, he did come across a bit like a zealous used-car salesman at first. However, I trust him a lot more after reading his responses. He seems honest and reasonable. If I had a need for a data-capable CPAP machine and didn't have insurance, I would jump on this offer at $400.

+1 on the PayPal protection. I got a refund including shipping on a failed transaction through them. Fairly easy to deal with as well.

1.) Why not just ask the manufacturer/supplier for a full refund and give them back the machine?
2.) Your doctor is not doing his job because you should be able to use this machine -- it's the best on the market. You should get your settings adjusted to tolerable levels to acclimate you to it. No?
3.) Why not stick it out a bit longer? People cope with cancer and far worse problems -- you can't deal with this?

Before anyone jumps to buy this, I don't recall any mention of whether or not it comes from a household where there is a smoker. Some may want the assurance that it is from a non smoking home.
