Average Price of Resmed S9 Autoset

Post by wants2sleep » Fri Aug 10, 2012 8:35 pm

Hello Everyone,

I am in the market to purchase a new cpap machine. I am interested in a Resmed S9 Autoset and want to buy it new or used on craigslist in order to save some money. I am located in Los Angeles and have not seen many being sold on there. There is one on sale now w/ humidifier for $750 brand new. I think its a little high compared to what I have been reading what members on this board have been paying for them ($300-$400). I do not know if the price is dependent on where you live.

I have found the S9 on secondwind for $749 new and $549 used. Has anyone bought an S9 autoset off craigslist in LA? If so, how much did you pay?

Thanks

PS, any established members on here have one for sale?

I got the ResMeds S9's equivalent, the PR model S1 with only 80 hours on it, including a hose and mask, plus three nasal pillows for $400 on Craigslist (in a small town, no less). It wasn't an unusually great deal, I was later to understand, but I'm happy that I got it. I suggest you print out some comparative prices, from other cities, and show them to the various sellers, then make a counter offer. Also, make sure you are not getting a dumbed down non-data model (ie. the infamous Escape model)... some sellers will straight out lie to you about the machine they're selling, including pasting on false labels or giving you phony manuals that they photocopied. I've actually seen this from one seller and they get away with it cuz there is much confusion on the different models and the features... it's a given that newbies will understandably be confused with all the terminology.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to add that I was able to go and look at my prospective CPAP machine before buying. I think this is important.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I would stick with Secondwind, the S9 for $749 is new & comes with 2 years warranty, Ive just bought one, it is my second machine off them

I'd feel more comfortable buying from cpap.com or secondwindcpap. Craigslist would be acceptable if I could see and try out machine, making sure that it worked and didn't smell like smoke, or worse.

Thanks for the replies. It does make more sense to buy it from a retailer, but money is a little tight and would perfer to spend as less as possible. I'll keep checking craigslist and hope to score a deal.

Well buy used off Secondwind, at least they are low hours, cleaned internally & externally & they have 6 months warranty
