In that case you will be proud to hear GE is moving their MRI building to China, so your future Mri for $10,000 will be with a chinese built machine. Jim
WHAT? The love of money

I heard several companies from Canada are coming back from China because ALL kind of reasons (unable to product with high quality, governmental structure too complicated and unpredictable, industrial espionage and loss of technological information, etc) . I can't believe GE is doing that.

Companies think they will be able to produce at $0.10 in China and come back to sell it to us at $100.00. The thing is if they continue taking the industry to China and letting the people here without their jobs I really wonder who they think will buy their Chinese products at American/Canadian price? Not the unemployed they generated, for sure.

Getting quality product from Chinese suppliers is the same as getting it from suppliers anywhere else in the world.

You establish a relationship, make it crystal clear to them that if they give you crap, THEY will be the one paying the price, use appropriate inspection and process control.

If you go to a supplier and let it be known that price is the only thing that matters, you'll get garbage no matter where in the world you buy it from. If you let the supplier know you're not taking the time to double check their quality, you'll get crap no matter where you buy it from.

Any time a product is to be built-regardless of where, the developer needs to thoroughly 'spec it out'.
This is time consuming and exacting, but needs to be done absolutely right.
Any error or omission will be exploited by whoever finds it to make as big a profit as possible,
without regard for the end result.
Quality control must be based on the agreed-upon specifications;
and only parts or products failing to meet those specifications can be refused.
(did I just say that--it sure was dry--I need a drink of water now )

And inspect, inspect, inspect. "Trust but verify."

If you work at a big company, you'll be appalled by the number of times that well known US suppliers will ship you junk. Sometimes, even junk where you know they knew it was junk, but just thought they might get away with it.

Somewhat back on subject - at least with the glass humidifier tank there won't be a multi-page thread about how someone let it run empty and the resulting fumes burned their lungs, or whatever.

Why are you primarily worried about Chinese manufacturers?
Here's the real eye-opener.
Go to "americawakeup (dot) net" and see how many U S companies are actually foreign owned.

Nice filter but the machine looks too bulky for travel.

Might otherwise be a great machine except I watched all 2 minutes and 58 seconds of the video and the patient was in apnea the entire time. (I think he died.)

While you're at it, look for how many companies are "American" owned and market themselves as such, but have no US staff beyond management and marketing. They market "Buy American" even though the product never came within our borders until it was ready to put on the shelf at your local mall.

Buying from China is a good thing for U.S. citizens

- less expensive goods have improved quality of life and left more money to spend on other things
- tedious, difficult, labor-intensive/mindless production line jobs do not have to be done by Americans
- China is a great market for high tech, capital intense products and creative services that Americans excel at
- peace is promoted by trade

If you are a xenophobe, then don't buy Chinese products.

But don't get in the way of the personal freedom of 300 million Americans who freely choose to regularly buy Chinese products.
