And if finances don't permit consideration of a new mattress at this time, you might consider a 3" firm support foam topper like this one from Amazon:

3 inch Queen Size Accu-Aire 3.3 Visco Elastic Memory Foam Mattress Topper Made in the USA by Accutex Foam USA $71.29

Note the customer reviews.

What seems to be the magic in a mattress such as this? Form-fitting, yet firm? Redistribution of weight some way?
Thanks for the heads up.

Oldern,

I've never used a topper but the Amazon purchasers' reviews above were very favorable. We used the Sleep Like the Dead website to assist in our research in selecting a mattress, and now I see they have a special section on mattress toppers that might answer your question:

http://www.sleeplikethedead.com/mattres ... mpare.html

As for the type of mattress we selected, I would say that it makes my body feel like it is being gently but firmly cradled and supported bone by bone and muscle by muscle, but maybe it's all in my imagination or the power of suggestion. I don't know - all I know is it works for me.

Regards, Nate

PS - If relevant to you, I am two years older than you.

Hi, this may sound a bit extreme and I don't recommend it longterm necessarily, but many people find sleeping in a recliner really helps - certainly at times when they don't have a machine available, and for problems sleeping on one side or the other, because with the recliner, even though you're on your back, the negative effects aren't as pronounced as when you'd be in bed.

LOL... imagination or whatever... after the above review I'm about ready to purchase the same bed - except mine is only two years old. I'll definitely keep it in mind for a few years down the road.
