Thanks Mary for your support, I am slowly refining my sleep hygiene, and have had advice from the GP. I hope your treatment is going well, and thanks for the heads up on the time it takes to get used to ASV. Hoping one day that I might be able to stop the afternoon nap!!Mary Z wrote:I won't address your machine titration, though even with an ASV knowing my prescribed pressure made setting up the machine easy.
It sounds like you need good quality sleep. My recommendation is to work with a sleep professional (not sleep apnea professional) who will help with your sleep habits and help you learn to get a good quality, restful nights sleep. Good luck.
By the way, I am on ASV and finding it is taking at least six months to achieve optimal results.

Mary Z, I've got to agree that the acclimation time is pretty extensive with an ASV unit. But as you and others have noted the results are wonderful. One thing I note is that I definitely need to change my mask more frequently with an ASV unit than with other units. It appears the constant pressure changes causes the mask cushion to wear out a little faster. It gets stiffer and leaks become more pronounced. Essentially, I find that it is NOT a "set it and forget it" type of therapy. To make it work, you have to stay on top of the numbers and find out when it starts to suffer .. and tweak and tweak and tweak .. until the numbers return to the range that you find acceptable.
But it's good to hear that it is working for you.
