Wow I can't belive all the stories about DME and making sure you use your machine at least 4 hours a night... talk about adding stress to the already stressful situation!!!! Up here in the great white north (Canada) I just submitted my bill to my insurance company and they reimbursed me no questions asked and no rules to follow. I believe I'm eligible to get a new CPAP every 5 years outside of that I don't have any restrictions on using the unit.
Is that a common practice for insurance companies in the US?

Re: New and struggling
I'm going into my third week of CPAP life and so far, I'm not having such a great time of it. I'm glad you have a supportive wife, that seems to be key! You're doing so much better than I am already. Way to go!! *pats you on the back*

Re: New and struggling
I'm not so sure of that Abby... last night for some reason I just couldn't deal with the mask but hung in there until 500 am before pitching it. Also remember that I'm still taking a pill before bed to relax me... can't do that forever.
Hang in there.
Hang in there.

Re: New and struggling
I was only able to spend one night on this new mask. I tossed the new chin strap as soon as I took a picture of myself for the other thread (I triple dog dare you..). It made my claustrophobia kick into high gear. She's wanting me to use a mask tonight that goes over my whole nose. She said I've used the only two under the nose types they offer without me paying big bucks out of pocket.
I did make myself go off the 5mgs of Melatonin after the first few nights. I figured I'd have to deal with this sooner or later and I'm a rip the bandaid off fast kind of person. I just want it over with. I'm going to try the aromatherapy techniques given in another thread here and see if that helps calm me some. It's worth a shot.
Good luck!! I hope things get easier for you as well.

I stick one of those Listerene cinnamon breath strips to the roof of my mouth right before I put the mask on.
