I used my new ResMed H5i Heated Humidifier in Auto Mode during the winter months with the default Temperature setting of 80 degrees F
Now that summer is here & I live in a very humid region, I left it in Auto mode but turned the temperature down gradually until I got all the way down to 62 degrees F.
At ANY temperature setting (79 to all the way down to 62 degrees), it still uses the same amount of water each night and it feels just as warm on my face using a ResMed SoftGel Nasal mask.
I believe that no matter what the temperature setting is, the H5i will maintain an 80% Humidity level in Auto mode, so maybe that is the reason.
Is it just me? Do others actually notice a difference at a lower temperature setting?
With my old Respironics, I used only the very lowest heat level of 1 & then only about 5 nights during the entire winter. In the summer months, I used the Respironics humidifier only in Passover mode. I even sometimes put some ice chips in it in the summer. So, maybe the fluctuations in the ResMed H5i are just not great enough for me to notice like I did with the Respirionics.
If the H5i maintains an 80% Humidity level at any temperature, I am not sure that adjusting the temperature does much as all. That 80% humidity will produce a certian amount of "mug factor" no matter what the temperature is.

Re: Temperature Setting on the ResMed H5i Heated Humidifier
I don't know for sure, but it sounds like my experience.
In the clinician's menu, you can set the humidity to 'patient' and set it independently from the hose;
I believe you can also turn the hose temperature to 'off'.
I think that's what I did to Hubby's machine (per his request)
I could have simply swapped to an unheated hose (a spare) and not had to change any settings except the humidity.

I'm using the H5i and a climateline hose with my S9. Peronally, I feel the temperature difference between 75 (where I started) and 67 (where I keep it now). Because the hose/humidifier keeps the relative humidity at 80-90% (I can't remember which) no matter the air temperature, you still get a certain "mugginess" at the mask. And I definitely go through more water than I did with the System One.

Re: Temperature Setting on the ResMed H5i Heated Humidifier
In the spring & early summer, I left the H5i in Auto Mode with the default 80 degrees F but lowered my bedroom temperature by 2 degrees to offset some of the heat I was feeling.
That actually worked perfectly - but I hate to have the A/C running more for 7 hours or so just to compensate for the extra heat that the 80 degrees F produces.
Yes, I know that there can be 80% humidity at different temperatures.
But when it is 80% humidity at 62 degrees F, I can make the total bedroom more livable with the A/C'd air.
I live in a region where 94% humidity is very common.
But that is different than 80% humidity air blowing directly up my nose & on my face.
I guess I will have to switch to "manual mode" & reduce both the temperature & the humidity settings. I really wanted to avoid that & let the technology do the work - but the "Auto" technology just ain't cutting it.

Re: Temperature Setting on the ResMed H5i Heated Humidifier
There are 3 different settings on my S9. I have no idea how they differ other than one seems to combine temp and humidity into a full auto mode.
