OT: Eye floaters and flashes of light

Prevention/Solution
The only true solution is to trap and remove the animals. They are fairly easy to trap, and once removed from a location tend to set up roots elsewhere, typically not returning to the area from where they've been removed.
Hardware stores and feed and supply stores in the regions inhabited by armadillos sell traps made specifically for this purpose. Wildlife experts suggest releasing the trapped armadillos at least 10 miles from an infested property.

He is beautiful but I won't be pleased with the damage he makes.

Urine and Ammonia
Try making a spray repellent from one part human urine and one part ammonia. Combine the two in a spray bottle and treat problematic areas in your lawn. Although this method is not 100 percent effective, it seems to repel armadillos most of the time.
Some have suggested spraying your yard with the urine of armadillo predators. While this may keep the armadillos away, it attracts other animals that are significantly more dangerous than armadillos.

Liquid Fence has armadillo repellant but not sure if my local feed store carries it. I don't remember seeing it but I will go look and if not then I will order online. I see that they also have mole repellant and they are a whole lot more problem than a little armadillo. Supposed to be good stuff so will check it out. If the pesky little critters would just stay in the pasture I wouldn't bother them.

Check the reviews from whatever you would like to buy. I read a lot of those commercial repellents doesn't work, no joke I read it.

Once I had problems with squirrels, I bought the stuff supposedly to be a repellent for those town monsters and it made nothing to them really nothing. I dreamed to have a 0.22 rifle to kill those devils, they were destroying my BBQ cover, I finish trowing in the garbage the cover full of holes then they didn't come back.

He is doing right well all considering. I have tried to let him loose several times and while he can fly somewhat he can't sustain flight and doesn't have much control. His tail feathers aren't growing as they need to.

On the pet side of things he has a new "used" double decker ferret cage to roam about in. Quite roomy. He is very vocal and a little devil at times. He wants to take the newspapers on the bottom of his condo up to the top level and spends a lot of time trying to pull the paper up the ramp. If the dogs get too close he gets a real attitude with them. Funnier then all get out to watch him. The other day Toby was standing up with his nose against the bottom of the cage and the crow nailed him with his beak. He does have a powerful strong bite for such a little bird. He likes to bite my fingers and try to pull me inside the cage.
He loves a bath and fresh water in his little bowl always means a fresh shower for everyone. He makes quite a fuss when he does it too. Gets the dogs all wired up. He seems to still think of me as his "mom" and will perch on my finger quietly. New people who get too close to his cage he gets all nervous about.

Thank goodness I no longer have to hand feed him. He eats the cat food out of a dish and eats seeds and has a couple of "toys" in the cage to help with the boredom though newspapers seem to give him the greatest thrill. Wonder if he is a she and wants to build a nest?

Makes a mess of things but what the heck. He does make a person laugh. Even my husband has to laugh about some of the stuff the little guy does. So I guess he/she will be a member of our family until he can fly well enough to get away from the cat.
Right now it would be suicide. If not, well just another little mouth to feed and no big deal.

It is just too funny to watch him "defend" his home when the dogs get close. He gets right down there in their faces and tells them to go away. Very vocal.

Just got back from town and the feed store had some anti critter pellets. Armadillos is one of the listed critters it is supposed to repel. Spread the granules over the flower bed and supposedly they irritate the nostrils and the little guy won't like it.
That is the theory anyway. Waiting to spread them to see if we actually get the rain that was promised. So far...none.

Give the poor critter some credit! At least he made it across the road!

Haha! Wow, I had figured you had released the crow by now. Sounds like you have a new pet Glad he/she is doing well. No idea how to sex a crow. Guess you will know if it lays an egg?

My husband had a detached retina. They were able to re-attach it, though he still lost some of his sight in that eye.

Something else to inquire about, in re floaters is something called Fuch's Dystrophy. Which my Mom had. Seriously not fun.

OK, try mothballs. Maybe that would keep them away.

Don't have any. Used a huge box of them one day stuffing them down in the mole holes. Useless. I think they toss them out of the holes at me the next day But I will get some more for a second line of defense. The local store didn't have any and nearest Walmart is 20 miles. I had already thought of that. Useless to scare off moles though.
Mothballs are cheap and can't hurt.

I did find some granule stuff though and I just got through spreading it heavily on the flower beds. Still waiting for rain and it looks like I will still be waiting but the directions say if no rain soon...water it...so before bedtime if rain is not going to happen things will get a good soaking.

My goodness... from possibly going blind to armadillos. This is quite the thread.

Just very happy to know that one of my favorite internet friends is only dealing with annoying creatures who love to ruin flower beds!
