How do I keep tape from getting wet and slobbery?
Occasionally I've been taping lately and a few days will go fine and then there will be a night of slobber. How do I keep the blue painters tape from getting wet, which makes it not adhere (and the wetness seems to cause a rash/dry skin around my mouth)?

Wish I knew the answer SU and I'll be watching this thread for tips. I've been using the J & J Waterproof tape and still slobber through it. I think once it gets wet, and I begin mouth breathing, it blows the tape off.

I'll bite....
Last year read a post that said to roll your upper and lower lips inward against themselves so that none of the pink shows. Hold....and tape! That may make a better seal. It also may keep you from getting tenderness and irritated lips from pulling off the tape. Someone else suggested petroleum jelly over the lips before taping. That certainly would protect them. I use a different tape and also get a night where things get sloppy . That may be just how the roll of tape bounces through life.
Hope that helps.
Best of luck,
Cindy

Re: How do I keep tape from getting wet and slobbery?
I tried the blue painters tape, plus a couple of others, but my imitation of a slobbering dog and the tapes were a bad match.
I now use 2" 3M Microfoam tape. First, I bought a roll locally to try, and it worked. It was also relatively expensive. I now buy from Amazon (http://tinyurl.com/7ghtnjz). Using a six inch piece, with a 1/4 " folded over on each end, I got about three weeks out of a roll. To reduce costs, I now use a 2" length and cover with some cheap 2" cloth tape from my local drug store. I get a little over a month for each microfoam roll. Of course, with the addition of the cloth tape, my costs are about the same. But, it feels secure, and my lip leaks are now rare. Earl
