GumbyCT, Thanks for keeping me in line! And yes bowl and bucket is used. It sometimes takes me several minutes to get that last BB out. Like playing a bead game where you have to get all the BB's to sit in holes in the board. That last one never wants to behave.
wishing you a good nights sleep!

That was NOT directed at you unless, of course, you are one who MUST dry out a water chamber

I don't have the same system as you, but I have experienced the slime situation. When you have a moist environment like a humidifier, it can be a casting call for all sorts of microbes and fungi. In the end, what remedied the situation for me, was getting the SoClean CPAP cleaning system. I'm a little embarrassed to say how long I go between major cleanings, but even then I find no slime presence at all anymore. No stink either.

Buy an extra tank as soon as your insurance will pay for it. You need a spare anyway. Or buy a cleanable tank out of pocket if necessary.

I couldn't make the disposable tank open by hand the first time, and gently pried on it with a screwdriver in the right place after carefully looking at how it fit together. Once you get a spare, you don't need to be quite so worried.

Tap water for cleaning is not a problem as long as you dump as much of it out as possible. Use a small amount of distilled water as a "chaser" to dilute any remaining tap water residue from your cleaning and dump the distilled water. Remember, ResMed says you can use tap water full time in the cleanable tank.

If you want it clean, open it up and really clean it, at least occasionally.
