I just wanted to know how other people feel when they fall asleep without their CPAP. I have an S8 set at 15 and I need to use it constantly at night. This morning I woke up refreshed from my CPAP then took the mask off, then fell asleep without it for 2 hours. I woke up and have had vertigo all day and have felt very spaced out and 'weird'.

What do you experience if you sleep without CPAP?
I feel like hell.

I am old enough that I have a few friends that have had strokes and quite a few that have had heart attacks. I am sure that some of them could have avoided this by using CPAP years earlier. A couple of them had been prescribed CPAP but would not use it.

Sleeping without CPAP I have a fear of a stroke or a heart attack.

Go CPAP!

Short naps dont seem to bother me, whether in bed, on the couch or in the hammock. BUT i have noticed that I have a harder time napping now that I am using the CPAP. We were at our camp last week and I was in the hammock under the shade tree enjoying the breeze but wasnt able to doze off. Was kinda depressing in a way

I usually sleep 20-25 minutes each morning without it on. My wife gets up before me but I usually wake up when she does, take off my mask and chinstrap and enjoy 20 minutes or so of "untethered" sleep while she is in the shower.

Sleeping all night without it makes me miserable.

I haven't actually fallen asleep, but started dozing off in front of the TV a few times just for a few seconds. Each time I've stopped breathing and this has pulled me back from the brink of falling into sleep, so there's no way I'll ever intentionally sleep without my CPAP!!

Cheers,
xena

Asleep. It's the waking up that's the hard part. A couple of times I have been congested in the morning - wake up, take the mask off, fall back to sleep for the last hour...

Waking from that, it's as if I never put it on the night before. Exhausted, grumpy, the works, even though I HAD almost a full night before that. Since the first couple times that happened, I'll go ahead and use a decongestant if I hadn't previously; otherwise I'll just get up. Why waste what sleep I did get?

Funny though, when I do get plugged up, and GET up, I don't need to use anything. The congestion goes away within 10-15 minutes of getting vertical.

I haven't slept without my PAP since I got it in November 2008. Even naps - rare though they may be - require PAP.

On rare occasions, when I am extremely tired, I will catch my self about to nod off in my recliner - but never make it to sleep. When tat starts to happen, I make myself got to bed (no matter what time) and put on my PAP.

I always feel VERY lethargic, I can barely make it through the day!! I can certainly tell the difference since I've been using CPAP. I'm not sure how I live without it!

I take naps frequently without my CPAP. I still feel tired and sleepy when I wake up which is the same way I feel when I use my CPAP. It has never worked well for me and that's why I'm thinking of giving it up. I'm old so probably won't have to feel bad much longer.

I can immediately tell theres something wrong, but its not much different than "back sleeping" for me.

I feel agitated, a liittle short of breath, irritated, and unrested.

The main lesson you quickly learn is absolutely no "just a quick nap" thinking.

Always hose up, even when its a hassle.
