Actually, it's probably one of the better positions you can sleep in if you are untreated. I used to roll to my stomach after starting off on my side, presumably because it was easier to breathe that way. I won't miss sleeping on my stomach though. It messes up my neck big time. You might be able to manage stomach sleeping or the falcon position if you rigged some pillows to make it so that your mask didn't mash into the bed.

It seems to be better for a lot of people. Presumably gravity helps pull your tongue and jaw forward opening the airway.

Some people, it doesn't help. It usually makes wearing a mask more difficult.
