Semi MAYDAY post!

OK, I met with my Sleep Doc and he Rx'd an APAP machine for me..Visiting Nurse Service (my DME) 'just' called and they have the machine. I am scheduled to come in TODAY at 2pm EST to get 'fitted' with the gear. It's a $1200 machine of which i am paying $295.00. So what are the 'must knows' before I leave my appointment??? Sorry for the short notice, but really appreciate in advance ANY suggestions as to how to approach this event!! Also is the $1200 getting me a 1956 Ford or a Mercedes or someplace in between?? Thanks, thanks, thanks.

  1. Read the "What to know before you visit the DME" thread.
  2. Failing that, Do NOT accept delivery on anything that doesn't have an SD card slot in the back.
When in doubt, open the case. Remember: If you can't open it, you don't own it!

Prescribed APAP range - 6-10 cm/H2O, titrated at 8.
Current range - 9.0-11.5 cm/H2O - still searching for the magic "zero night" but averaging 2.2 AHI

Make sure it is a Resmed S9 AUTOSET or a Phillips Respironics System One Auto With Aflex. Nothing with Escape or Plus in its name.

Are you getting this "gear" from the VA?

There is about $50 difference between an old ford and a mercedes in online cost (and that is not wholesale either) so it is a pure profit decision on their part.
