Sorry, if it seems we're skirting the weight loss subject, especially in my case where I told a somewhat rambling story of how being happy and rested makes me eat more, thusly gaining weight. I think you'll find, if you sift thru our dross, that there are some weight loss gems hidden within. I sincerely wish I could tell you in three easy steps how to lose weight. If I knew that secret, I'd be making a billion bucks on late-night TV. Good luck dropping the pounds - keep us posted of your progress!jaal4 wrote:Hi !!

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Re: Weight ?
When in a weight loss plan that actually worked; I did the following:
Low calorie. (for me, 1,000 calories a day)
Very low carb (about 1 portion/day-and that high fiber)
At least 8 (8 ounce) glasses of water a day.
1/2 cup skim milk or yogurt at breakfast
Plenty of low fat protein--an egg in the morning, and 4 oz meat at noon and evening meals.
2 servings of fruit/day (ex: strawberries at breakfast and an apple at lunch--no tropical fruits or grapes)
2 servings each of low carb fresh or frozen vegetables noon and evening meal (raw is most effective)
No evening snacking.
No sugar or white flour
7-8 hours of sleep every night
walk the dog as far and often as he wants to go.
Keep my fasting blood glucose between 90 and 100.

Re: Weight ?
From a scientific standpoint, sleep apnea interferes with hormones like insulin and ghrelin, that are tied into your metabolic processes. Fixing the sleep apnea may help fix the metabolic system, but so many of us have seriously messed up metabolisms for many reasons including poor, grain-based, sugar high diets, environmental toxins, stress, etc, that just strapping on the CPAP mask isn't going to make much of a difference.
It may help some people follow a healthier eating plan, so if you are willing to put the work in to an effective plan (and as to what is an effective plan, you'll get even MORE diversity of opinion--my bias is toward a paleo style plan), then treating your OSA may help.
In my case, CPAP got rid of one of my biggest problems, reflux at night, and allowed me to eat MORE, not less. So it hasn't been much help in the weight loss department.

Re: Weight ?
Supposedly, weight gain is often one of the side effects of apnea. If you've gained weight due to apnea, you may lose it on CPAP.
If you've gained weight for other reasons, CPAP won't fix it.
If you feel better due to CPAP and eat "better" or exercise more, it could help.
If you eat more because you feel better, you might get worse. At one time, I think I was losing my appetite and losing weight because apnea made me feel so bad.
