When using a RemStar with C-Flex, do any of you ever wake up and notice that you are breathing rapidly?
After lots of struggle with chest pain and bloating, the Dr. reduced me to a pressure of 11, rather than the 15 that he first prescribed. (I hope to get an autopap machine soon) I was using C-Flex of 3, but am now using 1. I note that it seems like I inhale more air than I exhale and, that I seem to breath much quicker while using CPAP than I do when not using CPAP.
I'm just wondering if the non C-Flex users notice that their breathing rate is increased and, if they feel as though they inhale more than they exhale. When I have used a non C-Flex machine, I did not seem to notice the rapid breathing.
Any comments??

C-Flex
I think the rapid breathing that you describe is actually that you're able to exhale easier against the pressure. Think of it as now using the c-flex mode you are able to cycle the machine without as much effort as before when using CPAP without c-flex. I caution you though, cflex works by dropping the pressure at the end of exhalation, when you want to keep the airway open. For example if the pressure is set at 10 and Cflex is set at 3, the machine will drop the pressure down to 7 to allow for easier exhaling and either an event or sleep awakening arousal could occur.
You should really be titrated in the lab with cflex or if this isn't an option, just use the cflex setting of 1.
Good Luck
