Hi y’all, welcome to the wonderful world of sleep apnea. It appears that our numbers are growing daily. Fortunately, there is a wealth of information here and many great people that will share their experiences and advice. I have been “hosing” for 15 months. Unfortunately. this is not sleep as you knew it. No more getting into the bed and going to sleep. Now we must strap a mask to our faces, start the machine, and try to sleep with it.
I have not had the problems with the doc, DME, etc. that y’all may have had. I had my study done on 12/07/04. When I left the center, my doc had faxed my prescription to a DME and I had a copy of the results in my hand. My problem was with my insurance. I had not met the deductible for 2004. As a result, I had to wait until 01/03/05 to get my equipment. But obviously, I have lived through it.
My only problem has been with my mask. I am using an UltraMirage FF mask and that thing leaked badly until I adjusted the straps, which took some time. It will still bothers me at times and I have wakened up with it not on my face. But, I have not allowed it to beat me.
What I am saying is, hang it there, it will get better. At least it has for me.
Harold
