Any tips on alleviating nose tickling with FFM??

Post by rickymarkokc » Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:27 pm

I've gone back to my Quattro mask because I temporarily can't find the straps for my Hybrid (lost on vacation). Surprisingly, the Quattro FFM is working well for me this time around- no leaks, and fairly comfortable. However, I'm experiencing nose itch/tickling when wearing the FFM. It's as if someone were tickling my nose with a feather. I've heard others describe this as well. The problem is that I find myself waking up about every hour to scratch my nose. It's annoying. Any suggestions??

Rub or scratch your nose vigorously before you put the mask on. This desensitizes your nerves so no tickle!

Mask liners help quite a bit. Make one from an old t shirt or get one like a padacheek (Google it). I've used one about a month and can't think of a single time I had to get up at night and fiddle with the mask either with itchiness or sweat induced leaks.

Give your face a vigorous rub just before putting on the mask.

Yup, yup, don't know why rubbing or scratching the nose before donning the mask works but it does!!!

Thank you for making me think about that again!
It hasn't itched for days.
Tonight it probably will. . .
