So what about DAY Apnea???

Post by wilsonintexas » Mon Jun 11, 2012 2:27 pm

I have been having a number of transition central apneas, with my O22 level dropping below 88%...... AND I was on a plane flight for a few hours so I put on my O22 meter and stayed awake,. reading and generally staying awake....... NO SURPRISE, my O2 levels fall below 85.......

This puts my transition apneas in perspective...... but what do you do about Day Apnea?

here is the chart of a few hours awake on the plane.

now for the real question...... I often wake up around 2:00 in the morning, with a ramp up of centrals. I have been opening my mouth when I find myself awake to put a spike in my leak rate, to try and figure out if I am waking up because of the apnea, or the apnea is from transitions....... the jury is out. Many times I wake after things have been ramping up..... other times I wake up, and then there is a ramp for an hour, as I go back to sleep.

It is strange hat I have no apneas as I first fall asleep, only around 2-3 or at 5:00-6:30 in the morning.

I am headed to the DR, bit it is still a few more weeks away.

OK OK WAIT...... I was flying at 30,0000 feet.... the numbers probably mean nothing...... at least nothing that we can act on......

I will try a few hours this evening as I watch TV to see what happens........

The airplane is pressurized. Depending upon the pressure, you would have to figure out what altitude that corresponds to.

Wakeful breathing is scored differently than breathing while asleep. I am not sure there is a standard for scoring wakeful breathing.
