Regarding mouth breathing...some people (like me) did the mouth breathing at night mainly from habit from gasping for breath due to the apnea events. I don't have nasal congestion issues during the day and never breathed through my mouth during the day but at night....different story. So when I first started therapy I knew I had some mouth breathing issues at night but I didn't want to go the full face mask route (issues with straps and that plate in my neck) so I did opt to try various methods of aids to keep my mouth shut. I did try the headbands and even bought one fancy chin strap but it didn't work any better than my cheap Walmart sports band. I ended up just taping my mouth. I was okay with it because I tested the tape and the seal was easily broken....so long story I taped for about 2 months I guess it was then I started getting lazy and forgetting to tape until I was already masked up. I found that my leak line wasn't showing any huge leaks anymore.
So I quit taping. I seemed to have unlearned the habit of mouth breathing since I no longer had the apnea events to cause me to gasp for breath.

Some people do learn to keep the mouth shut but some people do not and this is only possible if your mouth breathing is just a habit and not from a physical need (like bad nasal congestion). If you normally breathe through your nose during the day without issues and no mouth breathing during the day then you might get lucky like I did. If you can't even breathe easily through your nose during the day then you know the answer to that.

There is no huge rush to experiment though. Get yourself adjusted as best as you can to all this before tackling experiments. One comment though. Even with using a full face mask and mouth breathing people will and can have unwanted excessive dry mouth. The humidifier just can't keep up. So limiting mouth breathing can help even if you end up using a full face mask.
