Reminds me. Nancy Grace said nobody dies from sleep apnea! She is soooo outrageously wrong.

Occlusion of the airway during unconsciousness is deadly whether one suffers from sleep apnoea or not.

Patients should always be monitored when unconscious for precisely that reason.

Many a life has been saved by someone knowing to check and open an airway.

I may have saved one myself - at an entertainment event, in the interval, I found a man hunched in a corner, chin on his chest, cold and clammy, breathing irregular and strident. I lifted his head with my hand on his forehead till he came out of it. Dunno whether he would have suffocated otherwise, but he looked well on the way to it. Not sleep apnoea, but positionally blocking his own airway during ? a faint. I left it to the medics to sort out when they arrived.

People who are knocked unconscious in motor vehicle accidents can expire in the same way, with their chin on their chests. Just need somoeone to lean in the window and lift their head up and back to open that airway.
