Gel to Help Mask Seal?

Post by sleepyguy1 » Sun Jun 03, 2012 5:34 pm

Is is good to use a jell or lotion on you face to help a full face mask seal
and not leak?

I switched from nasal pillows to a full face mask and am trying to find out
various things to help it work better.

No lotion just make sure mask cushion is clean and wash your face before putting the mask on.
You could try mask liner might help otherwise try nasal mask full face masks leak the most

I read a post a couple of weeks ago that the poster said aloe vera gel on her face improved the seal of her mask. Otherwise, I would go clean faced into masking up. Too many lotions have ingredients in them that degrade the mask cushions. Sol's suggestion to use a mask liner is a good one.

Anything with petrolatum or mineral oil is bad for the silicone, so avoid it.
I once put a thin smear of Lansinoh all the way around the seal on a full face mask.
It stuck to my face pretty good, and my skin was so soft where the mask had been.
Only did it once.

Lansinoh is better than any chapstick when your lips are tight and dry. Love that stuff!
