Mask Marks on Face--What to do?

Post by sleepyguy1 » Sat Jun 02, 2012 1:31 pm

I switched from nose pillows to a full face mask three months ago,
and it works fine.

The only problem is I wake up with indentations on my forehead
and cheeks, and sometimes they take 2-3 hours to go away.
Until then I am walking around with the indentations on my face.

I was wondering if there is something you can do to avoid or
minimize the marks?

Your profile still shows nasal pillows. If you changed to a FF mask, you more than likely have the straps too tight. Tell us what mask you have.

I see I need to change that.

It is a Fisher and Paykel Forma Full Face Mask.

The problem is if I do not have them tight during
the night it starts leaking and making a noise from
the air coming out. Then when I tighten it to stop
the leak it makes marks.

Thanks for your help.

I second the padacheeks suggestion! I've also had good luck with RemZzzs as well (though I like padacheeks better).

For me, the liner let me wear my mask straps a tiny bit looser, and even in the spots they were tighter (where they had to be to prevent leaks), the liners kept the marks from being so bad. Might be worth a try!

I also use padacheek liners. They have done away with most of my red marks. I use Gold Bond on my cheeks after showering and on occasion I use Afta shave lotion on the marks.

Hi!

My name is Becky. I work for the company that makes RemZzzs. the_nap_ster is correct. RemZzzs cut down on leaks and allow CPAP users to loosen up their masks. I would love to send you (or anyone else) a Complimentary 6 Day Sample to try. You can call me (877-473-6999, ext 4) or you can email me (social@remzzzs.com). I will just need your full name, address, and mask name and cushion size and I can get it right in the mail for you! We do have HCPCS codes and are covered by Medicare.

I am really hoping that we can help you out.

I've heard that cocoa butter is really good for mask/strap marks, which makes sense since its one of the best emollients and it's all natural.

One of this nice things about RemZzzs is that we actually recommend that users use a moisturizer or lotion WITH our liners. Users can wash their face like normal, then apply a moisturizer or lotion, lay the RemZzzs on their mask, tip their head forward and put it on. Using the lotion help to keep the skin soft and supple and helps to get a better seal.

Also, we now have Medicare billing codes, so a 30 Day Supply can be covered by Medicare and most private insurances. https://www.cpap.com does carry RemZzzs.

I also love the Pad-a-cheek mask liner. I prefer them over Remzzzs.

I think it's was nice of the marketing lady at Remzzzzz to offer us some free samples ( and yes, we all know Karen at Pad-a-Cheek rocks!).
