WOW - It's A MIRACLE!!

Post by cigarbat » Thu May 31, 2012 7:24 am

Started using a Cpap machine on Saturday and by Sunday morning I had more energy than I have ever had in TEN YEARS!

I never expected such a dramatic change after only one night! Why did I procrastinate so long.

I'm now on Day 5 and feel like I could run a marathon. I did have one night that I only had 5 hours of sleep. I still went through the day with more energy and less fatigue than before.

I cannot believe this miracle is real. I have to pinch myself to see if this is a dream. Why did I wait – Truly this is a life changing moment.

Even my HIGH blood pressure of the last ten years has dropped dramatically, even to the point i may be able to stop taking medication.

I've not had any acid reflux pills in 3 days, nor any symptoms.

Before this week, I was the walking dead - never wanted to go too far from home or commit to do anything that may be more than a few hours, I would refuse to run errands after work, make excuses not to go to a movie in the evening, as I needed to seek the refuge of my couch to nap, for the last TEN YEARS!!!

I think Apnea is where they came up with the original Zombie ideas.

Even now I’m in disbelief that this miracle new feeling is not real. But after 5 wonderful days with NO FATIGUE; 5 days of energy; 5 days of feeling Alive Again! This is truly the most miraculous thing that’s ever happened to me personally.

This has changed my entire life, in just one night.

iT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE ALIVE!

But how do you *REALLY* feel?

Glad you had such a great beginning. Keep up the good work.

I hate you.

Now I am turning pea green with envy all over again and now I will have every newbie out there wanting to know why they don't feel like running a marathon....Heck...I have been on this darn machine for 3 years now and I still don't feel like running a marathon but at least I don't feel like I just ran a marathon.

In all seriousness....Congratulations on your immediate success. You really are in the minority and very lucky and I am very happy for you. Most people don't see this sort of miracle.

Welcome to the forum.

Congratulations--you lucky dog! My 'wonderful' took a few months to show up.
Luckily, I was spared the misery of so many of the difficulties quite a few here have overcome--and some still deal with.
It is not always easy, but a blessing just the same. If anything unexpected comes up, we are here.
Welcome.

You are one lucky person and I seriously hate you!

If you have a secret as to how you accomplished this on your first night, please let me in on it.

After adjusting the mask and making sure it was working, I mentally gave in and tried to find that "special" place in your mind and focused on that.

Sort of like letting go and trying to think of something else to forget the mask even existed.....

My wife said to just try and find my "inner peace" with it all. And it worked like a charm.

After reading other posts, it seems like people are fighting it so much and not giving it a chance.

But Wow, the results after ten years of being a zombie is well worth it.

Hope this helps -

Okay, everybody is thinking it... so I'll be the 'bad cop'.

I too felt miraculous my first week on APAP. However, in the second week came a scratchy throat, in the third week chipmunk cheeks and in the fourth, aerophagia (swallowing therapy air into the stomach). Now most people can overcome these issues given time and patience - plus they aren't life threatening, merely uncomfortable, but they can be a downer. Soooooo, I'm glad you're successful and I pray you continue to have the best of results, HOWEVER, DON'T CRASH AND BURN IF YOU HIT A FEW BUMPS ALONG THE WAY. The vast majority of people on this site mirror my issues (duh, that's why were here!). So keep up the good work and stay positive. buuurrrrrpppp.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Cigarbat,

My experiences are the same as yours. My epiphany came during the titration of my split night study 9 years ago. I felt great the next morning, and then waited 2 LONG weeks for a machine. I now walk half marathons, bum knees and I do not like to pant so no running. I have walked 3 half marathons in 3 weeks, so give it a try. Some have been at 5500 feet and some down at sea level.

In the 9 years, I have had some bad nights, but they were much better than the best night pre-CPAP

Rolf

Hi there

1) I am really happy someone else had the same results. Congrats!!
2) I am "off the couch" and bed and doing alot more than before! (no marathon yet tho)
3) Besides being a little tummy sick the last two days .... over the last 3 weeks I have felt better than I ever have!!
4) CPAP is a miracle to me too!
5) Stick with it though thick and thin.

I wish they had a like button.

I know nothing is perfect, but this is soooo much better than the dysfunctional fog.

Thank You for the encouragement. I didn't realize there were so many others out here. In the past years I assumed it was just me.

There's a lot of hose heads out here, I bump into them all the time. Just found out my dentist assistant is a hose head. Welcome to the Great Hose Head Society.

We're called hose heads?? Well, I guess at least I'm a member of something. Geesh, Hose heads.

How appropriate. Seems like something from the John Travolta movie "Battlefield Earth." (they had to wear those nose hoses to breathe earths air.
