Vitamin D and Sleep Apnea

Post by Alicia41964 » Mon May 28, 2012 9:39 am

I know this topic has been mentioned in the past, but I just wanted to re-confirm what it probably said. My female doctor watches my Vitamin D level closely. After getting blood work a few weeks back, she sent over a script to my pharmacy for 100,000 I.U.s per week. My level was quite low, a lovely 7. Normal is 30 to 80. I began taking them as directed. Imagine my surprise when out of nowhere, I began sleeping through the night again! For many weeks, I had been sporadically waking up in the middle of the night, tossing, turning, just not sleeping soundly. I am thoroughly convinced that there is an absolute connection between Vitamin D and our sleep patterns. LIving up in the northeast, my Doc says this deficiency is actually more the norm, because we don't have the sunshine like other parts of the country. I am a firm believer now! If I have to take supplements for the rest of my life - I will to ensure that I continuously sleep through the night. Perhaps anyone else having interruptions should consult their Doc and get the blood test. Such a simple thing, yet it has such a profound impact... happy sleeping and I hope you all enjoy your holiday weekend!

This is very true, most people in the developed world are deficient because they fail to get outdoors enough. D3 is a pro-hormone needed for many body functions, not just for better sleep.

It is better to regulate your serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels by getting your skin exposed to direct sunlight. The lighter and more fair your skin, the less exposure you need and the darker your skin the more exposure you need. Mid-day exposure requires less time whereas morning and evening exposure requires more time. If you need to supplement, make sure it is D3 (cholecalciferol) and NOT the D2 (ergocalciferol).
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

yes, this is soo true. I too was very deficient. Mine was 7. I take 50,000iu twice a week. Its still not normal. But I feel so much better and I too sleep through the night and no longer wake in pain all night long.

I was sleeping through the night with a vitamin D level of 11. Now that my level is in the 50s, I'm still sleeping through the night. No change.
