I am in my third day with my first CPAP. It is a ResMed AirSense 10.
From the second I tried on masks to go with it I have experienced a strong odor.
I was told, at that session, it was just new plastic...
BUT, it is strong. A menthol/cleaning solution kind of smell. I am using air pillows. As soon as I put it on I start having a cool, numbing sensation in my front teeth. I have cleaned the hose and nosepiece as directed each morning and the odor and sensation has not eased. In fact, I’ve been up an hour and my teeth still have that sensation, and my tongue feels cool.

I am not dieting, am not diabetic, and have not developed any health issues to cause this. It was immediate.

I came here due my issue with the strong medicinal/cleaner odor from my equipment. I identify with the story ‘Z’ brought about her boyfriends breath. I believe I, too, have similar breath, if the taste I have right now is any indication. That is why I joined and wrote my earlier post.

when was the last time you cleaned your tubing and humidifier? Mildew and mold will build up if you leave it
without proper weekly cleaning.
I clean my mask/headgear daily and my tubing (Climateline) and humidifier weekly.

Not all new patients are sold brand NEW machines.
A used machine could have been cleaned--
(with who knows what).
Find out the RUN HOURS.
Somebody might need to do some explaining.

Just because this is your cleaning routine, does not mean that everyone else does the same thing. MY hose hasn't seen a cleaning in years, my mask, when it gets smelly
my nasal pillows when they start to leak.
You sound just like a DME employee and want our stuff to wear out faster from over cleaning so that you can make more money selling new gear :(
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.
