I sent the following email to F&P support and haven't received a reply. Any information that anyone has on the topic at hand would be appreciated.

The below-listed programs are installed with the F&P Infosmart software, all with outgoing internet access. Please let me know what information these programs are sending over the internet and please let me know how (or if) they will function if their access is blocked. Also—please note that the postgres db software is throwing a tremendous number of time-out warnings.
c:\program files (x86)\fisher & paykel healthcare\infosmart\infosmartdb\bin\postgres.exe
c:\program files (x86)\fisher & paykel healthcare\infosmart\infosmartdb\bin\pg_ctl.exe
c:\program files (x86)\fisher & paykel healthcare\infosmart\server\infosmartserver.exe
c:\program files (x86)\fisher & paykel healthcare\infosmart\client\infosmartclient.exe
c:\programdata\fisher & paykel healthcare\infosmart\client\smarttalk.exe
c:\program files (x86)\fisher & paykel healthcare\infosmart\server\smartadmin.exe
Thank you,
Hugh

Re: Fisher & Paykel Infosmart internet access
Dear Hugh,
Apologies for not replying to the post sooner.
InfoSmart runs both a client and a server on your local machine. The files you mentioned are required for client-server communication and they must be unblocked in the firewall such that they can communicate between each other. No InfoSmart files require internet and no data is sent over the internet. Regarding the PostgreSQL messages you are seeing, please contact your local Fisher & Paykel Healthcare office (Website: http://www.fphcare.com/contact-us.html) for further assistance, or please send a private message on cpaptalk.com and we will get back to you.

Re: Fisher & Paykel Infosmart internet access
Thank you-- that helps; and if I understand your answer, then I can manually start and stop the services as needed.
The way they came to my attention was when all of the cpu core temps on my machine shot up 12 degrees and cpu usage was running at 88 percent (when it should have been idling). I thought my machine had maybe become a zombie, but according to the event logs, the main activity was from the F&P database software (throwing timeout errors). I also noticed at that time that the five .exe files noted all had outbound access.
Best regards,
Hugh
