Huge bonus benifit of CPAP- I am better looking!

Post by F3adventure » Fri May 18, 2012 10:13 am

Maybe this post will help new CPAPers who are struggling with the nighttime vanity issue. I saw my reflection this morning and felt inspired to share.

I have been on the machine for a little over a year and I sleep better, my wife sleeps better, and I feel better- but I also look better. I see it every time I look in a mirror. I look younger.

I used to hear "you look tired" a lot and at 37 years old I really hated hearing that. I have noticed that I don't hear that anymore. It is also interesting to look at pictures of myself before I started therapy. I looked awful most of the time. My eyes looked heavy and puffy. I had dark colored bags under my eyes and I looked older than I was.

I still don't like the idea of having to wear equipment to sleep, but just this benefit alone is worth it! The fact that I feel better, sleep better, think better, and am all around healthier is icing on a really big cake!

I'm hoping for the same results when I start my treatment! Everyone tells me I look different from even one year ago - tired, puffy eyes, no life to them, etc. My SA has been steadily getting worse for years until it finally hit the critical point where I HAD to do something about it. I can only hope the looking-younger side effect will visit me too, in time

Thanks for sharing! It's posts like these that help us new people to the CPAP world. Definitely something I'll think about on those nights if I get some tough challenges in adapting to a lifetime of compliance.
