I was scheduled for Saturday night, but there was a last minute cancellation and I am in for tonight! I have been a little worried since my results on Monday, so this is awesome that I got moved up a few days.
An additional bonus is that I'll have the same sleep technicians as the first time. Gina, my sleep technician who hooked me to the wiring, and I hit it off like old friends. It made the 1st ever sleep test go so much better than I expected. I live in Western NC now, but grew up in Hollywood, FL. She is 3 years older and lived in the same neighborhood I did back then! We chatted it up about old times living in the 'hood lol. Since she was older and lived 2 miles away, I don't remember ever meeting her, but my older siblings might. Anyways, it was a pleasant surprise.
I am nervous only about the masks and the air pressure for this go-'round. I should be fine, but still..... butterflies in the tummy.
Wish me luck! I'll update tomorrow morning
Going for titration tonight! Excited/nervous. Wish me luck!

Best of luck to you tonight. I think it's great that you have the same tech and you can relax a bit in a setting like that.

Ok, so air pressure was the easiest to get used to and the thing I feared most about going in for titration. It took me about 20 minutes until I was breathing through the pressure with no issues, no claustrophobia, nothing. This was a big plus, since I have a tendency to feel "trapped". I expected to feel like I did for a brain MRI, but it was absolutely no comparison. I felt fine. No anxiety, no worries. Good deal!
Gina (sleep tech) tried a Resmed Quattro FX on me and it seemed to be fine at first, but I still tossed and turned with it until about midnight. I fell asleep from sheer exhaustion, but at 2:30am I woke up and I couldn't handle another episode of leaks in my eyes or around my chin and asked to change it out to something else. I am a 100% side sleeper and it just couldn't hold the seal, no matter how it was adjusted or how I worked the pillows under my head. Since everyone has a different shaped head and facial features, I do not blame the mask at all. It was a wonderful mask. Well made, nice quality, soft air cushions, and really a nice product. It just did not work for my face shape.
So, we switched out to the Resmed Mirage Quattro Full Face mask. What a world of difference that forehead brace made! She had it on and adjusted in minutes and I lay back down on my side. I didn't have to "hold" my face muscles to try to keep the seal. I could just rest into the bed pillows and snooze. I went under from 2:45am-5:30am. That is THE longest stretch of sleep I've had in over a year. I am SO loving this mask!
I told Gina about wanting a specific machine/mask/equipment and she told me the doc's office handles that and let them know. I told her that the doc's nurse said I should tell the sleep techs. We had a good laugh, but she brought back my paperwork and on the page that I signed for the insurance coverage DME (and a page she sends to doc's office for him to approve and send to DME) she asked me to write down the specific equipment I was wanting.
I wrote a request on the page for: Resmed S9 AutoSet for Her (or S9 AutoSet standard model), Resmed H5i Humidifier, Resmed ClimateLine hosing, and the Resmed Mirage Quattro Full Face mask. I also added a request for it to include full efficacy data capabilities, accessible to patient. Now, the wait begins...
I hope this helps other newbies in the hosehead world. I will let you know how things go when the equipment is received...
