Hi everyone...so glad that I stubbled on to this forum...I am a newly diagnoses asleep apena patient. My first sleep test was on 4/5/12 my results were as follows:
I slept for a total of 349 minutes
leg movements were not a factor
my O2 saturation dropped to a low of 79%
heart rate 67 BPM
and I stopped breathing every 2.75 minutes
with this info they stated that I have Moderate sleep apnea
I just had my CPAP sleep study on 5/15/2012. they had me on a full mask. I found it to be pretty comfortable and easy to adjust to.( my sleep tech Jason was pleased by this LOL)
even though I felt like I was awake more then asleep for the test they were able to gather great data...can't wait to get the results.(approx 2 weeks)
I have to say that after feeling like crap for years now not to mention keeping my husband awake with my snoring ( he says that he is not sure who snores louder me or our 14 year old dog LOL) I am ready to take the plunge and get started on the road to feeling better through better sleep.
the one question that I have for now till I get my new friend (CPAP machine) I have had off and on left sided facial numbess with no loss of sensation for over a year. I have seen a neurogist (MRI of brain is clear) can this be casued by my low O2 stats at night ? has anyone heard of this problem

Re: Newbie here
Welcome.
As to the facial numbness, I will defer to others who may have shared this.
Probably unrelated, but I used to have frequent arm/hand numbness on awakening,
but it has subsided considerably since CPAP.
My night-time charley horses are all but gone, too.
Be sure to read all the info about DATA CAPABLE MACHINES.

Efficacy data is NOT a luxury!

Janknitz has a blog that you probably should start with if you haven't see it already.

I have no idea about the transient facial numbness possible relation to O2 levels. Haven't experienced it nor have I read about any correlation but that just means I haven't read about it...doesn't mean there is none. I certainly haven't read everything and I sure don't remember everything I do manage to read. Sounds more like a nerve conduction thing off hand though. I would think a neurologist would be best suited for that evaluation but you never know and since you are going to be stuck with a cpap machine anyway then it will be interesting to see if the transient numbness goes away or still presents itself once you have documented successful therapy. For sure get that full data machine.
Welcome to the forum. Do your reading now because there is a lot to absorb and feel free to post questions on anything that need clarification. There are lots of wonderful people here who will be happy to help.
