After New Sleep Study Went from 7 to 12!!

Post by stuff4tt » Wed Mar 15, 2006 8:22 pm

Hi everyone.
I just had a new sleep study done the night before last and they changed my setting from 7 to 12 on my machine. It really feels like it is blowing me away. I do feel like I sleep better. My question is, today I woke up and my chest, back and arms ached so bad I couldn't stand it. Could this be from the increased pressure on the CPAP? I know it is pretty far fetched but I am really puzzled.

I would guess that the pain would likely be more from sleeping in a strange bed and trying to avoid tangling yourself in the various wires that are attached to you all night. I would not think that the pressure increase would cause you to be sore today. Just my $.02.

I disagree with idaho but I could be wrong...I just had my pressure increased to 11 from 9 and I am finding yes I do sleep more soundly I guess you would say BUT my chest hurts when I wake up and I feel sore and I think its from the pressure...I believe I was told back when I started CPAP that the first few days you could be sore getting used to it...Any experts here have any advice on this?

Miss Amythest, You very well could be right. I just never had any pain with my chest at all. It is funny how the same treatment can be so different for so many people. The diversity, even in opinion, is what makes this a great place.

Some discomfort is normal you will get used to it. A little asperin will help, it's a little like working out when you aren't use to it. In two weeks you won't even remember it.

Early on I had a few mornings with lower back pain, but I attributed them to spending hours deep in the delta waves of sleep, essentially immobile. The rest of my body felt great, so I started taking a little more care about what position my body was in before turning on the machine. Only been at this about ten weeks now, take it with a grain of salt, but it worked for me.
