Res Med Quattro FX Mask

They recommended the Res Med Quattro FX mask, has anyone had experience with this one? If so what are your thoughts? This will be my third mask in 4 months.

I just got one last week, Wore it one night and loved it. However I went back to my old quattro for a week or so because I also got a new machine at the same time. I went back to the old mask which works fine just to be able to compare numbers with as little changed as possible.

I've had a lot of masks through the approx 6 - 7 years I've been a hosehead and the Quattro FX is the best one I've found yet.

Not perfect --- but close.

I've had a problem with the cushion coming loose at the top of the nose area but last night I think I solved it.

I took a rubber band and put it on the mask frame under the plastic gizmo that snaps on and the straps connect to and then looped it over the top edge of the cushion where that little tab sticks up.

Went through the whole night without that part of the mask coming out of the frame and leaking and making noise.

I was on the verge of superglueing the darn thing in the frame it was so frustrating.

But with the rubber band like that --- all was quiet last night.

It still rides up a little bit on my face but not as bad as all the other masks I've tried.

Arizona, it sounds like your mask frame or green cushion frame is worn out or broken. I replace my cushions at least monthy and never had that happen.

I've had mine for a couple of months and I quite like it. It fits well and seals well and the over-all comfort is good. My nose and sinuses aren't great but with the FFM I don't have to worry about them.

GerryK, I've considered the cushion may be on it's last legs. I've had it awhile ... not sure how long.

But the rubber band trick seems to be working. Perhaps I will see about getting another one. Last time I called my DME about it they didn't have any and were in negotiations with Resmed for renewing their association.

Presumably they worked it out but I haven't checked.

Of course I could always buy one out of pocket if necessary.

For sure, though, this is the best mask of all of them I've tried through the years.

My mask of choice going on 5 months now. Other masks I've tried and my experiences:
- Swift FX - Extremely comfortable but didn't work for me because of mouth leaks.
- Mirage Liberty - Very comfortable but couldn't keep the seal on the nasal pillows throughout the night.
- Mirage Quattro - Very good seal, but I experienced pain and redness on the bridge of my nose, regardless of the forehead support setting.
- Respcare Innomed Hybrid - Same experience as with the Mirage Liberty.
I find the Quattro FX to be very comfortable and get very low leak rates. I use a Padacheek liner with mine for added comfort. Just be sure to watch the videos on YouTube, the Resmed website or CPAP.com on how to fit it to your face.
As with any mask...your results may differ though. Type in "Quattro FX" in the search box above and you'll find quite a bit of information and feedback on it. Good luck!

I've used the quattro FX for about a year and it's the best I've tried. I wold love to use nasal pillows but have been unsuccessful with the the pillows not fitting/sealing well.
I've tried the Liberty, the Swift LT, the mirage and the ultra mirage. The quattro fx works very well for me. I definitely recommend a pad a cheek liner. Be sure to watch the videos for correct fit and placement. I find that if the lower straps are snugger than the upper straps it works better. You will see on this forum that people either really like this mask or really dont like it. For me, the headstraps wear out/stretch out before the cushion or the mask.
