Over 2 years my O2 began to drop all the way down to 72% for 10sec with a central on one study and I was confused why this was happening to me. I tried exercising and losing 10 pounds and my apnea got worse, I get headaches and bad fog.
tried a 4/10 setting on my resmed vpap adapt and it was bad fog again and waking up with the mask off so I'm going back to the 5/15 I was prescribed. I hope this machine cures me finallly
I had a blood test and the endo thought I might have a pituitary tumor and started me on cabergoline. can this tumor cause sleep apnea? I don't know why else I could have sleep apnea since I don't have other health issues
central apneas and pituitary tumors?
Re: central apneas and pituitary tumors?
Sorry but you don't have to have any other health problems to have sleep apnea. There are young children around that have apnea and they have no underlying conditions that would cause the sleep apnea. I hope that you keep up with your therapy and don't just keep trying to find some other cause. Good luck and good sleep.

Sounds as if you need to talk with a neurologist that specializes in sleep medicine. In general, I would say "No! A Pituitary Tumor would not cause central sleep apnea. But I am NOT an expert in this matter.apnea2142 wrote:Over 2 years my O2 began to drop all the way down to 72% for 10sec with a central on one study and I was confused why this was happening to me. And yes, with proper therapy, an ASV unit can make a huge difference.

thanks for the replies! I'm pretty upset that this disease has ruined my career and life
yeah when I can actually sleep on the resmed vpap adapt I am getting close to 0 AHI but the pressure is too high to fall asleep. I have to take klonopin to fall asleep and stay asleep on the machine but it doesn't always work
I've read that it has an algorithm- the phillips machines weren't working for me so I tried it.
also the 4/10 setting was terrible for me, woke up with the mask off and bad fog so the 5/15 is a better setting for my sleep apnea
maybe it is possible that a tumor could put pressure on your brain in the wrong place- people with arachnoid cysts have sleep apnea and lesions in the clival area are associated with sleep apnea

Don't know if you still use this forum. Same thing happened to me, pituitary tumor, cabergoline and then a year into the cabergoline severe central sleep apnea. Wondering if any connection to the either the tumor or to cabergoline. My tumor has gone down from 7 to 6 mm. Take minimal cabergoline once per week, half life is about a week with the medapnea2142 wrote:thanks for the replies! I'm pretty upset that this disease has ruined my career and life
