SleepyHead screenshots

Post by John_Jason » Sun Apr 15, 2012 8:21 pm

They seem to be working when I click on View > Take screenshot (or F12), but where do they go? What kind of filenames do they have (so I can search my hard disk for them)?

At first I thought it would be a lot more complicated, but screenshots taken using the Print Screen button just go in the clipboard. If you then go into Word, a paint program, or even posting in a forum, just Paste (ctrl-v).

Probably wasn't their idea, but every now and then Microsoft does something right!

I can't get SleepyHead snapshot feature to work for me. It doesn't go to my clipboard and there is nothing to paste into Paint.
I didn't know it wouldn't work.. I never used it because I use the Snipping tool to do my screen shots.

That's my experience too. It doesn't create a file anywhere and there's nothing in the clipboard. I just use a screenshot utility that saves a file to disk. It works, but if the screenshot feature in SleepyHead would work it might be less work. Oh well.

I am thinking that screen shot in SH worked for a while (in the alpha versions) but with the lastest change to Beta version it got broke and not fixed. I do remember it being mentioned that it got broke. I just imagine as Jedimark gets back to working on SH he will fix that little bug.
It is good but it is Beta and barely Beta at that. Encore or ResScan do not have screen shot capabilities..instead the file is saved as a pdf..then we still have to do a screen shot..so might as well do it from the start.

It saves as png files (with timestamped filenames) under Documents/SleepyHeadData/Screenshots.

Unfortunately doesn't work on mac, because of some silly OS bug.. :/

Print-screen button works well, as this is provided by operating system. I think you can also alt-print screen to just get the app window.. That might just be Linux specific though..

It's straightforward to use Grab on the Mac to make a screen shot of either the whole SH window or just the part you want to post. Preview can then convert the .tiff to a .jpg for posting.

I just use Command-Shift-4 on my Mac and drag to frame the shot, then upload the screenshot file to Photobucket.
