Oooooooooooo Pugsey, that sounds awful, I work with Parents of Elementary Students, and one of the mothers who looked like a cross between an adorable Shirley Temple (when she was a small child) and the "Breck" Shampoo girl revealed to me all of her piercings and I hurt just hearing about them! OUCH BIGTIME! Of all the young women I've met, I'd have never guessed in a million years she'd have so many piercings in so many places!

Yep, I remember (please no lectures - I quickly learned my lesson) when my oldest daughter came in and asked what I thought about girls getting tattooed. I was working in the kitchen and without thinking replied "only druggies and hookers get those" (or something similar). Needless to say she had a cross on her shoulder blade and it took a few months for her to speak to me after that. She was in her twenties at the time, married, and had a kid.

Learned my lesson and out of five kids, 4 have tatoos and my youngest daughter has several tats and piercings. I am much more opened minded!!

But I must confess it is not something I would choose for myself -- so in my case it is probably generational and being raised in a conservative midwest rural community.

I haven't had any desire to pierce anything except my ears.
The tattoo I thought about for a couple of years before I did it. I waited till I found just the perfect tattoo that "spoke" to me.

My sister...I was totally blown away.. had no idea she would ever consider it much less do it and neither did her son.
2 weeks prior to my sister getting her tattoo my nephew's wife had approached him about her getting a tattoo and he had told her "no way" "My mom will have a fit"..

So all these body enhancements aren't just for the younguns anymore. I say if someone wants to pierce or tattoo...then do it.

I was born 6 months after my parents emigrated from Norway. If I ever get inked my first one will have to be "Made in Norway." Probably in Norwegian and with runic letters.
