Where's my data?

Post by John_Jason » Tue Apr 10, 2012 6:13 pm

I have been using my CPAP machine for six days. Today I finally got a card reader so I can import the data from my machine to SleepyHead. The computer sees the SD card, and there are a bunch of folders, but the only actual files are only 27 bytes. That's bytes, not kilobytes or megabytes. If the machine managed to cram six days of data into 27 bytes, I think the zip people would like to learn how they did it.

Could the data have been deleted? What kinds of things would cause that? What kinds of files is SleepyHead looking for? Also, the person at the distributor where I got the machine said that there is a second non-removable SD card in the machine that stores all the data as a backup. If the data on my removable SD card was deleted, how can I get it back from the backup?

With SleepyHead, you just point to the drive the SD card is in. Don't go too far down.

The file sizes on the SD card aren't very big at all..though they should total more than 27 bytes.

To do the import from your SD card to SleepyHead don't go to the folder at all...just go to the drive letter where the SD card sits. There is a picture of this in the User Guide (see link in my signature)...if you try to tell SleepyHead to look in a folder you have gone too far.

The actual machine data files will be in a sub folder called P0...
there are 3 types of files with file extensions ending in .001, .002, and .005. The .005 files are the wave form files. The SD card must be in the machine to have the .005 files written to the SD card.
Wave form or flow graph data is not stored on the machine's internal storage. The data that is stored on the machine is hours of use, AHI, events, leaks, etc.... After about 30 days some of the detailed data that is stored on the machine gets written over but the basics of hours of use and AHI won't.

Any data that is stored on the machine's storage will be written to a SD card (like if you used a brand new SD card) and there is no other way to pull off the old data.

So use SleepyHead and see what data shows up. If the SD card has been in the machine properly each night you should have all the data that your machine provides. If you don't have the data then we need to figure out why not. Card not being inserted completely....bad card....or machine problem perhaps.

Check those subfolders on your SD card just to look...see if you see those 3 types of files that I mentioned. If you don't...turn your machine over and look to see what model number is on the bottom of the blower unit. It usually begins with DS something....but it might not...look for DS 250,, 450, 550 or along those lines. At the moment the only thing I can think of for the abnormally small files would be not all the files are there and the machine either didn't or can't record other data.
