M Series Auto bipap 2 Questions

Post by sleepinglass » Fri Apr 06, 2012 4:37 pm

I have Just bought an M series Bipap Auto and I was just wondering if there is any way of turning off the brilliant blinding BLUE LIGHT that the machine gives off?

It is finning my usually dark bedroom with light!

My second question is On 1st April my card reader decided to loose DAY, not sue how or why.

So i AM ONE DAY BEHIND WITH ALL MY MACHINE DOWNLOADS! The time and date on my computer are correct

Has anybody else found this?

Grateful for any input.

As for the infamous "blue" light... nope no way to turn it off without actually going into the hardware. You could however just put something over the light.

You do know that you're at least 1 model behind, right? The new model uses a SD card.

Pity about the beacon of blue light!

Thank you for noticing that I am a model behind, which I am really thrilled about, to actually finally be just ONE model behind! Isn't it GREAT!!!!

Up until 2 weeks ago, I was 3 models behind!

So I'm getting there, slowly, but surely, as it takes me many years to save up, even for a used M series.

Hope to catch up completely soon, be up to date and have the latest model,

So if you hear of a used Phillips Respironics system one bipap auto

with low mileage,

GOING CHEAP,

please let me know,

I shall be only be too delighted, to buy it!

Until then, I shall have to make do, with being, just a model behind.

Yes thank you, they are great but still I shall need to save up quite a few years to be able to afford his prices.

Hi Nanwilson

Good idea I shall try the cloth.

I hesitated putting anthing on the machine because my old remstar auto machine used to get REALLY HOT if say, my bed sheet slipped over the top of it.

I assumed these respironics were all the same.

I am wondering how on earth can my machine be out by a whole 24 hours!

Does anybody know if these machines have an internal calander clock?

I am curious and intrreagued??!!

They do have an internal clock/calendar which is preset to GMT time.
We can't access it though. That is done only at the factory level.

You are using the new Encore Basics software. Normally software interacts with your computer and pulls date and time from the computer clock. I will poke around in EncoreBasic and see if there is a setting to alter calender clock. I didn't see one at first glance and the data I imported was from the SD card from my PR S1 BiPap which I hadn't used since first of February so I don't know if the dates were correct. I didn't think to look and don't remember exact day I changed to ResMed machine.

No time now to poke around and see if date is correct or if there is something in the software.
I will look around later.

I don't know what the display on your machine looks like, but I once had an alarm clock that was too bright, and I covered the display face with the tinting film they use for car windows, and it worked great. I stopped by a local auto trim shop and they gave me some scraps of several different shades of darkness, and I tried holding them over the clock until I could pick out the one that cut the glare enough, but still let things be legible in daylight.

Not sure what Basics is. Is this something new?

Not sure IF you changed anything but I do know since the daylight savings changes there are many, many things (esp. bank clocks) that still use the older daylight savings dates that the US no longer uses.

IF that is the case here it should correct itself in a couple more weeks.

Couldn't find anything in EncoreBasic to alter clock time at all so I assume that it pulls from the computer clock.

An hour off we could explain due to daylight savings time but not an entire day.
I can't offer any ideas as to the 24 hour discrepancy and for sure no way to fix it.

O see what I am thinking is that it's yesterdays data because this M series was a different animal.

Are we sure it is NOT yesterdays data which is being seen because of the recent time shift ?

I have thought about that...but I have no way to test for M Series data anymore. Sold the M series and DT3500.

There is a way to change country of use in EncoreBasics but when I changed my United States to United Kingdom (where OP is) I saw no difference in dates or times but my most recent PR S1 use was Feb 20 prior to DST change.

I do know that if OP happens to be going to bed after Midnight....that the day of use still is reported for the prior day. Maybe that is what is being seen.
Example...Respironics starts their day at 12:00 PM noon GMT time.
So yesterday would have started April 6 reporting date at Noon yesterday. I didn't go to bed until 1 AM April 7 but the report shows on the calendar for April 6 report but the actual time on the individual report for last night shows April 7.

EncoreBasic may be like Encore Pro and DST change resulted in reports being one hour off and nothing I could do would fix it. If OP has one hour off due to DST and happens to be going to bed near midnight the perceived 1 day off could just be a reporting difference. I can't see her reports so I am not sure what is going on.

So I don't think it is the machine being one day off. I think it is likely something within a combination of things giving the appearance of a missing day because of interaction with the new software and DST and going to bed late. Unfortunately unable to install another version of Encore to test it out.
Encore Pro gives the endless reboot loop and EncoreViewer2.0 won't install on 64 bit computer.

If OP could get Viewer installed on the old 32 bit computer...she could test her data reports with it and compare.. Viewer for sure ran totally off the computer clock to pull data times from the machine.

To original poster.
Are you saying that the date shown for last night is the 6th when today's date is the 7th?
If so that is the way both my old M Series and my new System One work.

With the very first Respironics machine I had, years ago, the light only came on if the machine was in the off position. It was a green light, I believe. Does anyone remember that?
