Have you ever had Sinusitis with CPAP therapy?

Post by Lee Lee » Thu Mar 29, 2012 5:07 pm

Here we go again.
I've been using CPAP for 7 years plus, and 3 times I've gotten a nasty case of Sinusitis. I wake about 3 AM with searing pain in my sinuses, tears flowing and nose running non stop. I make an appointment with the DR immediately and they diagnose Sinusitis. Armed with antibiotics and Bactroban gel, I spend a week in agony. Is this just me? I read today that CPAP users have a higher than ususal occurance .
Now needing to use a Full Face Mask at night, which is difficult.
Sorry to whine.

Hi Lee Ann

Not a problem. So sorry to hear that.
I haven't had that problem, but I went up to the Search line and put in "Sinusitis" and it came back with 23 pages of posts. So, you're not alone.

Hope it clears up soon.

Take care.

Many times before pap; since: only once (bacterial--not viral, about a month ago)
The doc prescribed a generic Z-pac; and it pretty much did the trick.

Twice since Christmas for me. I have a theory that the pressure pushes the stuff that would normally drain back into your sinuses and holds it there. I mentioned that to an urgent care doc last week and he laughed at me.

just getting thru a case of it... Biaxin is usually what'll get it fixed up for me... though right now I'm dealing with a plugged up ear from it.

But the paper I saw last said it correlated with not cleaning ones equipment.

I haven't had any since I started cpap. In fact my sinuses have been much better since I started.

Less cases for me since I started cpap. I guess that could be related to having open airways at night...better drainage.
I hope you feel better.
