Can't find Ramp Menu on S9 VPAP Adapt!
Can't find Ramp Menu on S9 VPAP Adapt!
I am almost too embarrassed to post this question because I thought I knew my machine's Clinician's Menu inside and out and have done things like change pressure, turn leak alert alarms on, etc. etc. but I give up and have to admit that I have tried and tried and can't find the Ramp menu either in the User's area or the Clinician's area to either turn it off or shorten its time ramping.
I feel I have gotten to the point in my therapy when I don't need the ramp and would prefer to start with the pressure on full blast, but where in the heck is the Ramp Menu on my machine?
I know it's going to be a slap on the forehead when somebody points out the obvious to me, but I swear I have looked through the entire menu screens on my S9 VPAP Adjust and can't find any trace of it, even though it is plainly illustrated in my copies of the manuals!
I think I know where it is supposed to be but it is not there! Did they hide or eliminate it on my machine, the way they eliminated central reporting on it?
Help!
Nate

Re: Can't find Ramp Menu!
On my VPAP Auto.
Clinical Menu
Settings....scroll down near the bottom near the mask selection choice. Mine actually says "Max Ramp" which is set to OFF position since I never used it.
If it isn't there...I have no idea..but look carefully at the wordings...I almost missed mine (just now looked) because I was looking for Ramp..and not Max.

Re: Can't find Ramp Menu!
Hmmm...well where does the clinical manual say it is supposed to be?
Obviously your manual isn't going to be like mine and I am too lazy to download yours.
You don't have anything showing a closed lock symbol for some reason do you?

Re: Can't find Ramp Menu!
Not that this is going to be a bit of help... but, I very accidentally found it several weeks ago and turned it down from 45 minutes (set by DME) to 5 minutes, which is more than enough for me. I haven't even read the manual - was just sort of playing around and getting a feel for where things were. I don't know what I did or how I found it. Just suggesting that you try turning and pushing buttons... just don't break anything.

Re: Can't find Ramp Menu!
Well, even though it's in the Clinician's Menu, take a look at Page 20 of this document I just found on the web for the S8 model (I have the S9):
http://www.resmed.com/au/assets/documen ... nz_eng.pdf
If I am interpreting that chart correctly, are they saying that the Ramp is only adjustable in CPAP Mode, not ASV mode? And if so, why is my machine ramping?
I am going to have to keep digging the ResMed site unless someone here comes up with the answer.

Re: Can't find Ramp Menu!
In addition, I have just found this document at http://www.resmed.com/us/documents/1013 ... -guide.pdf
entitled: Sleep LabTitration Guide
Note the Sample VPAP Adapt Prescription at Page 34.
Unlike the other Sample Prescriptions in this document, it does not provide a space to prescribe a Ramp setting.
But if so, why is my VPAP Adapt ramping?
And if it is not ramping, what the heck is it doing at the beginning of every night that feels like ramping?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Nate
PS - If this document is not in the cpaptalk library, I respectfully suggest that it should be! Some really incisive adjustment recommendations from Resmed appear here.

I think that is TMI, and you didn't even put OT in the subject line!NateS wrote: And if it is not ramping, what the heck is it doing at the beginning of every night that feels like ramping?
Seriously, if you don't get an answer here, call ResMed on Monday. They are very good about answering questions... so my DME tells me.

Re: Can't find Ramp Menu! Unique to ASV/VPAP?
Nate,
What is your min EPAP set to?
If min EPAP is set to 4, then the ramp will be unavailable. And what feels like ramping may simply be the machine increasing pressure in response to flow limitations.

I think when the aliens came by for a visit and did their usual stuff, that they swapped out machines just to mess with you. Gave you one that they had modified in such a manner as to confound you.
