I have great sleep and numbers with hardly any leaks finally so I am not complaining but am curious.
When I first get up it feels like I have water in my ears and the other day when resting in the afternoon lying on my side (no machine because I wasn't going to sleep) my ear became totally blocked. It went away but I am wondering whether there is something about pressure in my ears given that I finally have a mask fitting well enough to prevent leaks...maybe a few leaks is a good thing? Maybe I have the mask too tight?
I am also feeling light headed or off balance and as if my head is buzzing
Maybe unrelated to cpap. I do tend to attribute anything new to that.
I just thought I would see if anyone has experienced anything similar and then I can blame the cpap instead of insanity.
Wake up feeling like I have water in my ears
Re: Wake up feeling like I have water in my ears
DITTO, I also have to deal with it. I have a lot of congestion, The pressurized air from xpap is open to vent from out ears at least I am, I can blow my nose and air escapes my ears. Ditto on the dizzy at time. It's not great but it's better than falling asleep at work or driving. I can live with it quite well. Jim

Re: Wake up feeling like I have water in my ears
Hmmm, I thought I was losing my mind. With the constant vertigo and fuzzy brain I really am losing it but I am glad to hear that cpap is the cause and not something more sinister.
I wonder if some machines are better than others? I don't remember this from my old machine (have had the S9 for 3 months). I do have a pressure change with this machine. My old one was set at 8 (compliance only) and I found out by using the auto (set 8-14) that I hover between 11 and 13.
I wonder if setting the machine on straight cpap at about 12, watching to see if I had many more events, (my AHI averaging 0.55) it would help the air headedness?

Re: Wake up feeling like I have water in my ears
The higher the pressure the more apt you are to have ear problems from the pressure, HOWEVER, your treatment pressure should be whatever splints your airway to stop apneas, anything below that is a waste of treatment. You need to use the software data to find what pressure you need and use that pressure. I am at 15 cm, I think some of us have the vents and ducts in our bodies, that are not like others.
I figure it's more important to breath while sleeping than hearing in the morning, maybe I'm not seeing the big picture, I worry about the smoke detector not waking me up a little but I don't plan on burning my house down, so so it's best not to dwell on it. Jim

Re: Wake up feeling like I have water in my ears
LOL. So true. I am also too lazy to change things so will likely just live with the dizzy airhead feel. I am old enough that no one expects much from me anyway.
