CPAP while congested/Hybrid Masks

Post by Zzzzzzzzzzz... » Fri Mar 16, 2012 6:57 am

Hi all.

Seems my nasal congestion is becoming an issue while adjusting to CPAP and my Swift XL. I'm trying to get it under control ie, allergy meds, olba, breathe right strips, etc... however, I'm still getting way too many leaks and my AHI is increasing...

For those of you using Hybrid masks, which of them do you recommend? The Resmed is pretty damn pricey and the Innomed looks very similar at half the price. They both seem to have comparable reviews, but far fewer reviews for the Resmed.

Finally, I know you can breath through your nose and mouth with this set up, but can it also be an either or? Or are you forced to mouth breath? Will that air simply be directed into the nasal pillows if not inhaled? I typically keep my mouth sealed unless my nose is stuffed, etc.

Thanks in advance, and good morning!

The innomed has more options of pillows and cushions than the resmed does.

With a full face mask or a hybrid mask you can breath through your nose mouth or both. They are great when you have a head cold.

I vote for Innomed Hybrid...........I have 3 complete, plus 2 sets of spare pillows and mouth cushions
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

My sleep doc says the RespCare Hybrid, the first hybrid-style FFM, is a much better design. Sure a lot easier to clean I've been wearing it since a few months after I joined this forum, love this mask.
ResMed S9 range 9.8-17, RespCare Hybrid FFM
