new bipap w/ software question

Post by Catnapper » Wed Mar 14, 2012 3:24 pm

It has been 5 years since I stated with my bipap, and almost 6 since I started with cpap. I will be getting a new auto bipap in the next couple weeks, most likely a Respironics since my doctor likes that brand. I saw him today for the new Rx and paperwork that Medicare requires for replacement.

What is the newest version of Encore Pro? My DME tells me that his version is cloud-based, so not for me. He said that Encore Pro will read the new machines, and that I should use that. I just wondered if I have the current version, or if the one I have will work. I think what I have is 2.2. I assume the SD reader on my computer will read the card. Is that true? Does it need a special reader the way the older cards required?

He also said that he has ordered the new auto with the heated hose and will check it on the bipap to see if it works. He said it needs an 80 watt power supply which might be an issue. I am currently using a 5 year old Aussie Heated Hose. It probably needs to be replaced too, one way or another.

My DME and my doctor are both fine with having me use the software, and don't even mind if I tweak my settings. Amazing, right?

Hi Joanie,

The new PR S1 machines can use SleepyHead..you might give it a try.. information in my signature.

Encore Pro 2.4 is all that is needed for the PR S1 BiPap machines as long as they aren't the BiPaps in the ASV model line. For those machines Encore Pro 2.5 is needed.

I don't know if the new machines with the heated hose will need 2.5...that hasn't cropped up yet.
Pro 2.5 was released specifically to address the newly released ASV model line last summer.

Encore 2.4 is awfully slow....2.5 is even slower if that is possible.
Give me a few minutes and I will send you some information on Encore. I suppose might as well be 2.5 just in case. Then you can decide if you want to use Pro or SleepyHead. SleepyHead is really nice though.
