Re: Swift FX leaking around nose
You could also try Ayr saline nasal gel rather than the Lansiloh. Ayr doesn't have the "tacky" quality that makes Lansinoh so useful, but It seems to maintain its consistency regardless of body temperature.

Re: Swift FX leaking around nose
I have Lansiloh.. I was using it for the first few days as the nasal pillows hurt so much. Now they don't hurt and i stopped using it. I'll try again tonight see if that makes a difference.

Re: Swift FX leaking around nose
I use the swift fx with the Ruby chin strapon top of my mask.It keeps the mask from slipping at all. Last night as an experiment, I slept without the chin strap. What a difference in the leaks and AHI. I spent the whole night dreamin that I was trying to talk to people and wind would come rushing out my mouth instead of words.
With the chin strap.

Without chin strap.

Dan, click on the Swift FX fitting guide in my signature. It will take you to my blog.
Swift masks come with ALL THREE sizes of nasal pillows in them, if you didn't get all three your DME kept the sizes you didn't need, but it sounds like they are good at getting you things if you want (don't let them charge you for the other pillow sizes, since they were packaged with your mask in the first place). You should try going down a size, and if that doesn't help, go up a size. You shouldn't have to tighten your headgear.
If slippage is a problem, my blog shows how to sew some velcro hook tape (the stiff side) into the inside of the back strap to keep the headgear from slipping on your head.
Hanging the hose may help, but try the other things first.
The Swift LT is almost as comfortable and certainly more stable. You may find you like it better.

Re: Swift FX leaking around nose
My leak in sleep head ranges from 22-43 .. never goes below 22.. how did you get zero? i thought sleepy head would always show total leak. Maybe you are not using a PR System 1.
I talked my DME, they are sending out:
1. Swift LT
2. 10 foot hose (to help me making some kinda hanger.. i needed a longer one)
3. Chin strap.
So i will have everything I need to try out different things.
They forgot to give me a chin strap. So i never used one since day 1.

I have the ResMed S9. It only reports excess leak after the expected leak is subtracted. Anything under 24 is considered acceptable.danjfoley wrote:My leak in sleep head ranges from 22-43 .. never goes below 22.. how did you get zero? i thought sleepy head would always show total leak. ResMed machines subtract vent rate prior to reporting leak.danjfoley wrote:My leak in sleep head ranges from 22-43 .. never goes below 22.. how did you get zero? i thought sleepy head would always show total leak. Maybe you are not using a PR System 1.
PR S1 machines don't subtract the vent rate. They report Total Leak..vent rate plus any excess leak.
So don't try to compare your leak numbers to a ResMed report in SleepyHead.
SleepyHead reports what it is given from each machine.
There is a way to use Encore Pro to get unintentional leak only but not with SleepyHead as it is written now. Maybe later when Mark gets back to fiddling with SH code.
Respironics say that they can deal with leaks up to Large Leak territory. We aren't given a set number where Large Leak begins but from my past experience with Encore software which will flag a large leak episode....it seems to be somewhere between 85 and 90 L/min. So your 43 L/min...well within acceptable leak parameters.

Re: Swift FX leaking around nose
sometimes it's easier to make range of size suggestions for headgear and nasal pillows if we know whether we are conversing with a man or a woman. You didn't designate gender on your profile but from your id I am guessing you are male. Is that correct?

Re: Swift FX leaking around nose
Mark is taking a well earned rest from programming to take care of his own needs finally.
The Respironics machines seem to factor in a set vent rate per pressure...we see it in the Encore Pro reports. Since there really isn't any mask selection to add that variable into the equation even the Encore Pro reports showing unintentional leak were a close estimate. Not perfect.
Factor in multiple pressures with APAP use and thus multiple baselines...very hard to get anything but a close estimate for unintentional leak with SH..(or Pro for that matter).
That mask Resistance setting on the PR S1 machines does NOT affect the leak numbers at all. It does not vary the baseline vent rate like ResMed machines do.
